Milan Design Week is quite unlike any other. It’s a week when excitement, anticipation and inspiration reign supreme. Where everyone has a place to go and where anyone is welcome. The 55th edition lived up to and exceeded everyone’s expectations, proving once again that great design is at home in Italy. Sprawling over 204,850 m2 (2.2 million ft2) of the Rho Milan Fairgrounds in Italy, the 55th Salone Internazionale Del Mobile (MDW-aka Milan Design Week) this year showcased the latest home-furnishing designs of more than 2,400 exhibitors from Italy and around the globe. The huge range of products on display combined quality craftsmanship with technology and innovative solutions for a diverse range of spaces and lifestyles.

This year there was a strong sense of nature being a part of the furniture, with many of the designs being purposely built to include living plants. This strong environmental theme stretched across many of the design companies, which saw the use of natural, untreated or recycled materials, the physical inclusion of living plants or furniture that is made to be in nature.
